Merck

Bedrock data visualization application for Merck cancer research

More information below...

Merck

I co-founded a startup that began working with Merck's pharmacometrics group to explore ways that interactive data visualization could aid in cancer research.

This partnership continued for almost a decade and led to the creation of our software, called Bedrock.

My team built a digital tool that had the power to bring stakeholders from different areas of expertise together around a common set of information that could be readily understood and manipulated for experimentation

Below are two demo videos and a whitepaper that were presented by a Merck scientist at industry conferences.

Games

Games require complex interlocking systems of highly sophisticated and well thought out UX/UI interfaces. Especially in novel spaces like those found in VR and AI technology.

Console, PC and VR

I have worked in roles from UX/UI, Animation, Technical Art and Art Direction on many titles for companies that include Wizards of the Coast, Stoic, Amazon Games, Bazooka Tango, Atomic Arcade and others. I have also created several VR titles for Oculus (Meta) and Steam

Mobile

I am one of the original creators that developed the hit casual game “Fairway Solitaire.” for Big Fish Games. In addition I worked on more than 10 titles during my time with BFG.

Casual Online

Worked on more than 20 casual online games for Cartoon Network. For some of the most recognizable cartoon properties in their library. Including Powerpuff Girls, Dexters Lab and many more

UX & UI for games

When asked to describe what I do, one of the Directors of UX is Fine (UXIF) once said, “Matt is a Swiss army knife, or possibly an assassin,” referring to my versatility and knowledge of so many aspects of application development.

Skill set spanning numerous applications and platforms across multiple disciplines.

UX and UI interfaces for big name game studios like Wizards of the Coast and Amazon Games. For PC, Console and Mobile

Figma prototyping and design tool. Combined with After Effects and animation production skills combine for building prototypes that look like functional applications.

UX/UI for AI

BambuAI & Calm - Empathetic AI Companion

From my experience with Fuzzle, I joined another AI startup called BambuAI. Our main focus was the development of a fine-tuned empathetic AI model that would act as a therapeutic companion.

As the Creative Director, I was tasked with designing an intuitive user interface for communicating in a natural way with the AI as well as the look and feel of the application.

The biggest challenge I had to overcome was trying to make conversation with an artificial being seem natural, and keeping the UI as minimal as possible to not interfere with the experience.

Fuzzles - Groundbreaking AI Collectible NFTs

As Creative Director for Endless AI from 2020-2022, I was a key driver in the development of a revolutionary new kind of NFT - one powered by AI and able to fully interact with its owner. I led my team in the creation of 10,000 unique tokens - i.e. Fuzzles.

This challenging undertaking meant developing a complex system of individual components that were infinitely interchangeable in order to create valuable creatures full of personality.

In addition to designing the character, I designed the entire user interface and the look and feel of the entire Fuzzle world and application. I created promotional videos and even directed animation that was featured on the jumbotrons in Times Square.
